The Marylebone Centre

The Marylebone Centre was set up in 2001, originally as Dr Thaddeus Birchard and Associates. The goal of the centre is to provide psychological therapies to deal with the specific problems of anxiety, depression, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, heath and social anxiety. The NICE guidelines recommend the use of psychological therapies as a treatment of choice for such disorders.

Marriage and Relationships

We are trained to work with marriage and relationships and provide therapy to help couples repair and restore their relationships. We see this as a particularly important part of our work. This work is not limited to married couples but is open to unmarried and same sex couples on the same basis as married couples.

Sexual Addiction

We are also a psychosexual consultancy. This means that we work with all forms of sexual dysfunction. These include disorders of sexual functioning, loss of desire and gender identity disorders. We are especially interested in problems of sexual addiction and compulsivity. The Centre has pioneered the first UK programme of treatment for people who identify as sex addicts. This treatment option has been running for almost ten years.

Low Cost Clinic

The centre also runs a low cost clinic for people who are unwaged or on very limited budgets. Application to this clinic should be made at the time of the initial assessment. The low cost option applies to our treatment programme for sexual addiction as well as to our general work.

Research and Education

The practice is committed to on-going research and seeks to contribute regularly to conferences and academic journals. Additionally the practice offers workshops, training and educational contributions to interested parties and professional organisations.
